Online 100-level dinosaurs class being offered
Hello all,
In case anyone is interested (and yes, this IS a shameless plug), Mesalands
Community College is offering its "Dinosaurs" class online this semester.
Technically enrollment is this week, but I only found out Wednesday I was
teaching it (!); the last day to add/drop and register as a student is Sept.
6th. However I would suggest if you are interested to apply IMMEDIATELY (no
later than next week).
For more info on the class, contact me: emmar@mesalands.edu
For more info on the mechanics of enrolling, contact Ken Brashear at
kenb@mesalands.edu, or call at (505) 461-4413.
Course info:
GEOL 125, Dinosaurs, 4 credits
"This course is designed to introduce the student to the evolution and
ecology of dinosaurs. Students will gain knowledge of the main features of
the evolution of dinosaurs, and their diversity and ecology. Other topics
covered will be the origin of birds, the possibility that dinosaurs were
warm-blooded, and dinosaurs in the media."
Text book (in previous versions - too late to change!!!!) is Spencer Lucas's
"Dinosaurs: the Textbook, 3rd ed."
Enrollment
There is no prerequisite.
Tuition is $28/credit hour for NM residents, $48/credit hr for out-of-state
residents. There are also miscellaneous fees including an enrollment fee for
students new to the college ($20), a distance ed fee ($25), and technically
a late enrollment fee ($25, for enrollment after 8/23/02)- this latter *may*
be negotiable as the course wasn't out on the schedule until 8/22!.
