Two corrections...

That, of course, should be "ducks" not "sucks".  Oopsies.

I don't mean to dismiss the suggestion that gastornithids might (as proposed
for dromornithids) be anseriform relatives; an Anhimae-Gastornithes
connection comes to mind (can't remember the source for that particular
proposal though.)  That would raise some interesting issues, especially if
these taxa belong to a plexus of basal neognaths...
