Birds and whales

Since Darren has reminded me of birds and obscure ziphiids, a couple of
questions I've been holding on to for a while;

1. Does anyone know the contact details for Professor Paul Brodie?  He was
at the first meeting of the 'Secondary adaption to life in water' at
Poitiers in 1996. He gave the most amazing talk about his work with whales.

2. Can anyone point me in the direction of some references addressing the
diving / swimming capabilities of birds.
