Re:ears

An excellent source of analyses (and descriptions) of the ears of extant avialian theropods, and non-dinosaur archosaurs, is:
R.J. Dooling, A.N. Popper, R.R. Fay, eds., 2000. Comparative hearing: birds & reptiles (Springer-Verlag), 380pp.  The papers by Catherine Carr and R.E. Code ("Anatomy and physiology of the central auditory system of birds and reptiles") and R.J. Dooling, Bernard Lohr, M.L. Dent ("Hearing in birds and reptiles") are recommended.
