Well, no.  Personally, I don't care how the coiner pronounces it.  Dinosaur 
names, like other Latinate vocabulary, have a certain range of possible 
pronunciations, and individuals are going to vary as to which one they 
choose.  It's hardly the end of the world.

Incidentally, "deinonychus" would be pronounced with the stress on the second 
syllable in either Greek or Latin.
