Tree of Life Symposium Cancelled; Paleo Soc. of Washington Rescheduled
Greetings,
The following is forwarded from, ultimately, Joel Cracraft. I do hope that
they reschedule this meeting: it sounded quite interesting.
>
>As some of you may know the Tree of Life Symposium at AMNH next
>week (20-22 September) has been cancelled because of the tragic
>events here in New York. It would just not be appropriate to
>continue with this celebration of life's diversity in the face of
>the suffering going on, and the logistics for many participants
>would be exceedingly difficult. Over the next week or so we will be
>having discussions about rescheduling.
>
>I am writing to ask that you spread the word about this on local
>listserves. Because of the short timeframe involved, this will
>really help us out.
>
>Thanks,
>Joel

No word at present on the status of the Bozeman SVP meeting. However, for
local D.C.-Baltimore paleo-types, the Paleontological Society of Washington
has rescheduled our September meeting (originally planned for this
Wednesday) for Wednesday, September 26 at the usual time of 7:30 PM in the
Cooper Room of the National Musuem of Natural History.
The text below is from the PSW's new President, HP Ralph Chapman:
The topic of the meeting will be a detailed discussion
of various aspects of the Triceratops project with a
concentration, for now, on the development of the Virtual
Triceratops and the development of the new exhibit on horned
dinosaurs and their relatives. For now the speakers will
include myself, Ralph Chapman, and Linda T. Deck, who was in
charge of the exhibit and making it sure it happened. I hope
to try and coax some additional people to give part of the
presentation on their aspects - as many people contributed
major amounts to the project - but they have yet to be
nailed down. The talk will include lots of images and
video.
