RE:
For those who are interested,
Among the local (Washington D.C.) vertebrate paleo community: I and my wife
are fine; I've heard from Ralph Chapman, Mike Brett-Surman, Linda Deck, and
the Smithsonian crew and they are okay. John Merck is also okay: he
actually witnessed the plane flying towards the Pentagon, although he didn't
witness the impact itself. My wife works across the Potomac from the
Pentagon, and felt the blast of the collapse and saw (and smelled) the fire.
The Paleontological Society of Washington meeting in September (planned for
a week from today) are cancelled.
Our thoughts and wishes are everyone in D.C., NYC, and around the world.
