RE: Valley of the T. rex
Breif review of Valley of the T. rex:
Great Hell Creek scenery!!
The juvenile Daspletosaurus! YES! (Jack told me about it a while ago, and
I'm even more interested in seeing it up close and personal).
For those who've not been in the field, a nice (if brief) look at what
well-funded fieldwork looks like.
Very little new from Horner's hypotheses, including completly ignoring the
effects of allometry on limb proportions (the "G. rex" specimen, for
example, has a nearly equal Femur/Tibia ratio, while the Wankel specimen has
a slightly longer femur than tibia. Even prior to putting steel tape to the
specimen, I predict the "G. rex" femur is shorter than that of the Wankel).
Continued misunderstanding of the spotted hyena as primarily a scavenger.
I was also curious about the giant dromaeosaurs feeding on the Triceratops
carcass, given that the known dromaeosaur material from the Lancian is all
of small critters.
