5TH IGANADON MANUS IMPRINT (FROM THE EARLY CRETACEOUS OF MARYLAND) FOUND

For any interested list members:

Yesterday (9-6-01), I found the best
Iguanadon manus impression of which I have any knowledge. It is wonderful,
with a
deep, clear 'mitten' impression in which one can easily distinguish the
three digits enclosed. I am also happy that it happens to be in the
hardest, most highly silicified type substrate in which we find tracks. At
roughly 9.0 cm across and with a 'mitten' 5.3 cm across, the manus
impression was evidently made by a juvenile. I earlier have found a couple
of
larger Iguanadon manus imprints and a couple of smaller ones, but none so
spectacularly detailed, with excellent push-down. This kind of imprint seems
to be impressed when the animal is sitting or, maybe, reclining in a
couchant position (and then gets up).

Also found: another nice dinosaur ichnite (with multiple tridactyl
tracks), but it is not so
rare and potentially important as the manus impression.
