NEW PTEROSAUR & NEORNITHINE STUFF

Hello all, just a quick one to report new refs.

PTEROSAURS

Buffetaut, E. & Guibert, J.-P. 2001. An early pterodactyloid pterosaur
from the Oxfordian of Normandy (northwestern France). _C. R. Acad.
Sci. Paris, Sciences de la Terre et des planetes_ 333, 405-9.

A metacarpal from an animal with a wingspan of about 2.3 m is
described - one of the earliest records of the Pterodactyloidea.

Buffetaut, E. 2001. An azhdarchid pterosaur from the Upper
Cretaceous of Cruzy (Herault, France). _C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris,
Sciences de la Terre et des planetes_ 333, 357-361.

Partial cervical from an approx. 3 m wingspan azhdarchid that has
similarities with _Arambourgiania_ and the Spanish material recently
described by Company et al. (1999). In the brief review of global
azhdarchid occurrences, Buffetaut neglects to mention the Crato Fm
azhdarchid.

NEORNITHINES

And seeing as we're increasing reported stuff on neornithines, the
following long-awaited works are out (though old news to some)...

Livezey, B. C. & Zusi, R. L. 2001. Higher-order phylogenetics of
modern Aves based on comparative anatomy. _Netherlands Journal of
Zoology_ 51, 179-206.

Zusi, R. L. & Livezey, B. C. 2000. Homologies and phylogenetic
implications of some enigmatic cranial features in galliform and
anseriform birds. _Annals of Carnegie Museum_ 68, 157-193.

For those interested, the SAPE www site provides access to a mailing
list on which participants distribute info about their new publications.
While on the subject of fossil birds, I understand that Parris and Hope
have submitted a reappraisal of the Hornerstown and Navesink birds of
New Jersey (taxa much discussed on this list before). And watch the
journals if you're interested in the evolution of the Raphidae....
