Ah, yeah, I forgot to mention my school atlas. It has a map somewhere that
depicts the geographical distributions of races and appears to feel somewhat
uneasy at it. There is a whole category for "transitional races"; Ethiopia
(or something like that) is colored for a transition between europid and
negrid, all of western Central Asia is colored for a transition between
europid and mongolid, and polynesid is regarded as a transition between
mongolid, europid (?!?) and "old-layer races" (to which the little ones I
mentioned, several others such as andamanid and IIRC australid are referred
to. To draw any line here would be even a lot more arbitrary than to draw
one between *Homo ergaster* and *Homo sapiens* in East Africa, who are
surely just chronospecies there, _if we had a much better fossil record from
200,000 years ago_.
