Gastroliths: Probably more than you ...
..... ever wanted to know about plesiosaur gastroliths
David Cicimurri and I have just published a brief paper on plesiosaur
stomach contents (pulverized fish bones) and gastroliths from remains
found in the Pierre Shale of western Kansas:
Cicimurri, D. J. and M. J. Everhart, 2001. An elasmosaur with stomach
contents and gastroliths from the Pierre Shale (late Cretaceous) of
Kansas. Kansas Acad. Sci. Trans 104(3-4):129-143.
A draft version of the paper (with the color pictures that weren't
possible to put in the publication) is now on the Internet at the Oceans
of Kansas Paleontology website (with the usual warning not to cite or
quote from this unpublished Internet version):

The web version of the paper is linked to other information regarding
plesiosaur gastroliths and the original dig of this specimen in 1991-92.
