It wasn't what he said, but the way he said it that was offensive.  (Though 
personally, I wasn't offended; just bewildered.)

Sure, let's have a debate about whether or not birds evolved from theropod 
dinosaurs.  Bring it on!  But P.D.'s message contained not a single rebuttal 
or refutation, but was just a rather overwrought, insult-laden tirade.
