Re: *Giganotosaurus* running 50 km/h
Whoa, I've got to cut in here...
Jack Horner seems to be on a loosing streak (heck, when was the last >time
he got something correct, the 70's)?
Although I don't agree with his _T. rex_ scavenging hypothesis, I certainly
wouldn't go so far as to say he hasn't done anything right since the 70's (I
take it you were perhaps exaggerating, there). I mean, look at the recent
great work he's done on hadrosaurid behaviour and the rest of his work on
the Two Medicine Formation (some of which includes the discovery of some
great ceratopians!). I think before you start criticizing him based on this
one work that you've read, you should have a look at his other publications.
When you try to make phenomenal change as the greats- Bakker, Ostrom,
>Soreno, have done compatibly, you need to get ALL your facts strait.
First, while we're in the mood of getting facts straight, it's "Sereno," not
"Soreno." Secondly, since when is Bakker known for getting his facts
straight?
What Horner (and that idiot from North Carolina university) have done >is
to make up these hypothesis, and then to throw the hard data out >the
window!
They're probably not the first ones. And I really resent your calling >any<
respected paleontologist an "idiot." I'm sure I don't have to repeat this,
but if you're planning on going anywhere in the field of paleo, the last
thing you want to do is burn your bridges by calling somebody names over
such a trivial matter.
It's appalling that scientists can still do this in this modern age of
scientific discovery.
Again, I'm sure they're not the first, or the last.
