Re: A sad day in Paleontology
The passing of Ned Colbert is a very sad event. Dinosaur
lovers can take some small comfort in his long and
vigorous life, which bridged the generations from the
early 20th century vertebrate paleontologists such as
Osborn, who knew Marsh and Cope, to the modern experts.
His classic book Dinosaurs: Their Discovery and Their
World was my virtual Bible as a kid, and his writing
talents in popular books and articles remain a model for
anyone who aspires to present scientific information of
substance in a style that is engaging and highly
readable.
