Re: galloping indricotherium


A big healthy adult Indricotherium wouldn't be very vulnerable, but younger ones (especially the youngest ones) would have been very vulnerable (as well as sickly or injured adults).
And if you were a nervous mother Indricotherium, you and your young would no doubt be galloping off at the first sign of a pack of carnivores.
Which carnivores?? I was thinking of creodonts (hyaenodonts in particular). If they were competetive enough to drive the mesonychians (including the gigantic Andrewsarchus) to extinction during the early to mid-Oligocene, then they would have probably been a definite threat to immature and sickly Indricotheres.

OOC, what kind of predator would take on an _Indricotherium_? (And isn't
_Paraceratherium_ the correct name?)

Perhaps a better question is, "Would an _Indricotherium/Paraceratherium_
*need* to gallop?" :)
