The types of both _Halisaurus onchognathus_ and _Clidastes liodontus_ were at 
Bayerische Staatssammlung fur Palaontologie. To my knowledge, these were the 
only mosasauroid holotypes that were lost; the holotypes of at least four 
species of plesiosaur were lost during bombing raids in England and Germany.
