RE: CURSORIAL STEGOSAURS?
Tracy Ford asks, in relation to the digits question:
"Ok, then what do you call just the phalanges and unguals? Are they fingers
and toes?"
As far as I know, you call them phalanges and unguals. Phalanges for the
fingers/toes, and unguals for bony claws (claw ungual is, as I found out
during my intial drafts of my dissertation, redundant redundant). Digit is
a more generic term, not a specific one, at least in my experience and all
papers on vertebrates and vertebrate development I have encountered.
Hope that helps,
Matt Bonnan
