Re: Making JP4-if Spielberg asks you to be a consultant

I totally agree with you. And fot the dromaeosaur, I'd choose _Utahraptor_... The _big_ guy!!
And if they _really_ want genius dromaeosaurs, they have to tell that an error in genetic reconstruction made them too intelligent, or something like that. Since it's sci-fi, it's alright for me, if they don't say that the _real_ dromaeosaur was as intelligent as it appears in the film.
And what about the drop of the _Pteranodon_ for an ornithocheirid?

For the false informations... I'm sometimes afraid professionnal paleontologists _always_ have to correct the same mistakes made by some of their students in university.

Subject: Making JP4-if Spielberg asks you to be a consultant

What changes would you absolutely insist on if you (any of you) were called upon to be the new dinosaur consultant for the next Jurassic Park movie? More accurate physical models? More believable behavior patterns and mental capabilities? For example, would you insist that the JP Raptors be dropped in favor of a pack of feathery _Deinonychus_?

How big of an impact on public education would such changes have? Many people have cited the JP series as having misinformed the public about dinosaurs; correcting the errors might do more to reverse that damage than any number of person-to-person explanations of why the Pteranodons in JP3 were inaccurate...
