SVP Undergraduate Forum

Hi all,

Are there any undergraduate SVP members who would be interested in creating
an undergraduate forum of some sort for the society? I envision something
analogous to the grad student group. Several other undergrads at NAPC have
already expressed interest in organizing something. Issues we would like to
discuss include:

*some sort of award/recognition for outstanding undergraduate research
*a place to voice undergraduate concerns, such as applying to grad school,
getting funding, getting published, etc.
*assistance for travel to meetings
*creating a listing of internships and fellowships with a VP focus
*lowering the age for SVP membership or allowing those under 18 to join the
society on a case-by-case basis.

This group would not just be for those with a dinosaur interest; ideally, it
should include all undergraduates with an interest in vertebrate
paleontology.

Julia Sankey at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology brought up this
idea. . .I thought I'd share it with the list.

Please contact me off-list if you are interested or would like to help in
bringing this up with the "people in charge." I would like to get something
together for the Bozemen SVP. . .

Best,

Andrew A. Farke
