Re: Maniraptoran arm extension
In an extant bird's wing, there is a mechanical coupling, whereby extension
of
the radius and ulna automatically produces extension at the carpal joint.
Is
there any evidence for such a coupling in non-avian maniraptoran theropods?
I beleive it is the same, since the shoulder/forelimb bones of maniraptorans
are essentially the same as birds, except in birds the carpametacarpus is
fused (co-ossified) into a single unit.
