Evolution -- coming to PBS in September

Pardon the cross posting.

An 8 hour documentary series is coming to public television stations, to
be broadcast 2 hours per night, September 24-27 (check local listings
for times). Entitled "Evolution," it will feature dramatizations of key
players in our emerging understanding of evolution, including Charles
Darwin, as well as interviews with scientists and commentators, and will
apparently examine the subject in terms of the science, personalities,
and society. Its release will be accompanied by its own web site, a
companion text by Carl Zimmer, and an ambitious educational outreach
program. Check your local science educational organizations for local
tie-in events.

See <www.pbs.org/wgbh/evolution> (the Evolution web site) and
<www.current.org/prog/prog0111evol.html> for more information.

Warning: This series addresses (among other things) the question of
conflicts between evolutionary science and personal religious beliefs.
Some readers may feel compelled to stage on line arguments on the topic
of evolution vs. creationism, which is expressly forbidden on some
mailing list forums (dinosaur@usc.edu, for example). Please respect
list rules forbidding posting on the subject or your subscription will
be suspended. If you disagree with list policies, discuss this off list
with the people who oversee and enforce those policies.

Thanks.
