HP Unwin observed:
<Incidentally, I was interested to see that the diet of large pterosaurs
included grad students. Thus, contrary to all evidence and expectation, the
latter do have at least one useful function. Well, ok, two if you can con them
into buying beer for you.>
In defense of this maligned group, they are also the ones who annoyed crocs
into chasing them to the point of exhaustion in order to obtain recovery rates
(of the crocs; I don't know that anyone examined the graduate
students). The development of the expertise necessary to arouse
a croc to active pursuit in hopes of inflicting pain and mutilation is a
clear demonstration of how effective the example of the faculty has been in
training their acolytes.
