disappointment

Gentlemen, gentlemen,

I must say that I am a bit disappointed. It is not like me to voice my opinion
like this, but I really must get this of my chest. I have send two emails to
the list with a request for information about Solnhofen. Although I am very
proud to have started
another thread, the Re: Solnhofen, I only got two replies to my first email by
David Marjanovic and Dan Varner. A third person, G. van Enck, offered me the
opportunity to take a look at his library and fossil collection of that period
of time: this is
also much appriciated and I will take the time to do that also. I really would
like to thank them for taking the time. The information they gave will be used.
I really need this information: it will be used to create a 3D world of
Solnhofen for the internetsite of Ilja Nieuwland. I was not planning on
spilling the beans on this, but maybe my earlier requests didn't sound
important or serious. It is. This will
be a hell of a job as I will attempt to do this in my sparetime (I have a
fulltime job.) That means long nights at home behind my PC and tired at work. I
estimate it will take about 6-7 months to complete the task. I hoped to be able
to get good, correct
information so the world would be as realistic as possible. If I can't get the
information I will have to make guesses and speculate a lot (I am by no means
an expert in paleontology) Then I know I will get at least some responses from
the list for
inaccuracy when the short movie is made available. I would rather have it the
other way around :-)
In short: are there no people on the list who can help me out with my
questions? I bet if I made a spelling error like Archeopteriks I would have
gotten at least three (seven immidiate replies if I would have made an
cladistical error).

I am sorry if this email, actually a third round request for more information,
sounds bitter, but I thought this list was about helping people out, sharing
information and intelligent discussion. I know I take the time to read requests
for info or other
questions and do my best to help them out. Most of the time somebody beats me
to it: my library is at home and not at work and often there is an 8 hour
difference in time at least :-) If my request is not realistic, too much to ask
or just plain stupid I
would also be very glad to hear that. I would hate to abondon this project due
to lack of information: I know there is enough out there. I just need to get it.
I hope this does not lead to a time-out. I know it is not custom to send these
kind of emails, but I just had to say this. If it does: I accept and regret
sending this third request with my opinion.

Greetings,

Bert 'Angel to some, demon to others' Dol
