New Refs: Yixian
The lastest in the sordid tale of the Yixian strata of
Liaoning:
Barrett, P.M. 2000. Evolutionary consequences of
dating the Yixian Formation. _Trends in Ecology and
Evolution [TREE]_ 15 (3): 99-103.
Pretty much covers the whole thing, and suggests
that most evidence points to a middle Early Cretaceous
date for the formation. Dates have varied between 125
(Barremian = EK) and 144 (Tithonian = LJ). Includes an
extensive bibliography of the biota recovered from the
now-infamous Liaoning beds, including plants and
insects, if you want to temper your pot with a little
bit of everything.
