Yes, Joao, there was a paper on a Cretaceous parrot published in 1998 by Tom
Stidham of UC Berkeley. The fossil in question was a jaw fragment only 1 inch
in length found in Late Cretaceous Wyoming sediments (originally discovered in
the 1950's, but only recently studied).
According to Stidham this fossil pushes back the evolution of parrots some 10
million years. But, some paleornithologists do not agree with Stidham's
analysis of the jaw fragment, and say that more evidence is needed. Go figure!
