Not when the other crisis factor is *independently* known to have occurred at the same time!


We know, from evidence at least as good as for the impact, that the Deccan volcanism *was* occurring across the K-T boundary. So, we *already* *know* the coincidence *did* occur.

The question that remains is whether both factors together were necessary to cause the full extent of the extinctions, or whether one of them was sufficient.

 What about that
theory that Earth passes through a cloud of space junk ever couple of million
years?

The analysis that suggested this has been shown to be flawed. The apparent periodicity was an artifact of how geological time is measured.
