Re: Extinction



At the risk of sounding tedious, I would point out the following 
definitions for clarity:

meteorite - a small rocky body from pinhead to several tons of extraterrestrial
        origin that enters the Earth's atmosphere. 
meteoroid - a meteorite beyond the Earth's atmosphere. Large ones are called
        asteroids.
meteor - a streak of light caused by the fall of a meteorite. 
bolide - a meteor that explodes while in the air.
fireball - a meteor of -4 magnitude (brightness of Venus) or more.


Of these only a meteorite touches ground.
