GREAT WORKS
Recently I was reading a book about cladistics that pointed out the
revolutionary proclamations of a certain (now) obscure paper. It made me
think about truly revolutionary papers (and books) of dinosaurology and/or
vertebrate paleontology of the 20th century (even though it doesn't end
until 2001). They are great not necessarily right, but they did stimulate
further research.
Here's a short list:
Heilmann 1926
Ostrom 1969, 1976
Gauthier 1986
This isn't even including non-dinosaurian works such as:
Gauthier et al. 1988
Rosen et al. 1981
Of course there are even more in the arena of fish, early tetrapods, early
amniotes, early synapsids, early sauropsids, early amphibians, etc. I'm
curious to hear what other list members have to say on this matter.
