The earliest-discovered specimen clearly referable to Tyrannosaurus is the
holotype of Dynamosaurus imperiosus, found in Wyoming in 1900. The above
sentence refers to the type specimen of Tyrannosaurus rex, which is not the
earliest-discovered specimen.
