Moratoria on Gould and on potential lawsuits

I only have five minutes to write this message, so I may feel a need
to write more later, but I think it's important that I say something
now. This list is supposed to be for discussions of dinosaur science.
What you think of people's literary styles is not something you should
be discussing here irrespective of what the person tends to write
about. That said I am calling for an immediate cessation of the
thread on Stephen Jay Gould. If you want to write about a specific
example where he wrote something about dinosaur science and you think
his statements are incorrect, then feel free to write such a message.
Any other sort of message about Gould or his writing should go
elsewhere.

Similarly, I'd like to shutdown the thread on who could/should sue
whom with respect to Archaeoraptor. Luis Rey's recent message about
the scientific examination of the fossil was fine. I encourage that
sort of discussion here. However, people with no legal expertise
should not be making statements about the law anywhere let alone here
on a list which was created for another purpose entirely.

Before continuing either of these threads, please familiarize yourself
with section 8 of:

and make sure you see this message in that light...

Thanks for your cooperation.

Your humble administrator,
