Magnetic Measures Indicate Earth Rolled Suddenly Long Ago
(Washington-AP) 

-- Scientists studying underwater volcanoes have found evidence the
Earth may have rolled over slightly -- a long time ago. 

The wobble would have relocated the poles and put Washington D-C in the
tropics, about where Cuba is now. 

Then, something appears to have changed the weight distribution in the
Earth, causing it to get back in balance. 

William Sager of Texas A-and-M University says the shift of 16 to 21
degrees occurred 84 (m) million years ago, over a span of about two (m)
million years. It was followed by a slow recovery to where things are
today. 

The findings appear in the journal Science.
