Crocs regrowing their tails

Dear all (but particularly Chris Brochu if you're listening)

I've just had an e-mail from an editor working for Orion about the
following sentence in a book that's about to be published. The crocs in
question are in Vietnam. Does anyone know whether there is any truth in
this, or any prececent in the literature? Please reply off list, unless you
want to talk about it.


'Grilled crocodile tail is an extremely popular dish and not too damaging
as the crocodile, once back in water, quickly grows a new tail.'
