Ray Stanford wrote some interesting stuff on association of sauropds
remains and cycads (sorry, Netscape seems to refuse to load the digest
as reply today so I can't include the reply). He also intimted fresh
water around as well.

It seems to me that a very good reason for nostrils high on the head
could be to keep water out when feeding. If the models of horizontal
neck postures for some species are true, this could allow surface
feeding off water, or water margins.

OK, so we have associated cycads....but what was growing under them?
