The aquatic Sea Scorpions were not true scorpions, they were chelicerates
whose closest modern relatives are the horseshoe crabs. The Carboniferous
Pulmonoscorpius kirktonensis was a true scorpion that appears to have
adapted to a terrestrial burrowing existance and reached lengths of about
70cm (not quite three feet but close!). It comes from the famous East
Kirkton Limestone that also produced "Lizzy the lizard".
