RE: alula

Having done a paper on Enantiornithes for an ornithology seminar last
semester, I had also wondered if the alula had evolved twice.  Did the
Enanti's and the Neornithes independently develop this structure, or does
the presence of the alula suggest some as yet unknown link between the two
groups?
