sedimentary formation of as large an areal extent. (Nice aspect of having
a
rapidly rising mountain range and a big depositional basin for the shed
sediment...).<
The Chinle Group is pretty large, too, extending east-west from
west Texas through Arizona, and north-south from central Colorado through
New Mexico. The Newark Supergroup is also fairly extensive, extending
along a fair bit of the eastern seaboard and west into Pennsylvania. Both
a bit smaller than the Morrison, but still big!
