The co-worker showed slightly more grace at being set straight on the term
dinosaur than I would have, had I been taken to task by a Classics professor
over the fact that the industrialist in my example could not have been the

Be graceful; your titan has hardly been overthrown and imprisoned as the
titans were by Zeus (Jupiter) and his father Cronos (Saturn) and his father
before him (Uranus). Tough life. Titans are big but also monstrous, so I
guess the simile has some use. You could call your industrialist one of the
hecatoncheires, sort of brothers of the titans, who were supposed to be very
handsome despite having 100 hands and 50 heads, sort of like an organization
chart, and this would have the advantage of driving your copy editor nuts.
Just a thought.
