Maybe they were too busy munching on ammonites? They may have been a heck of
a lot easier to crunch then chasing down a elasmosaur that could fight back.
It is clear some mosasaurs like Globidens evolved just to smash ammonites.
Ammonites where a heck of a lot more abundant than elasmosaurs, too. The
larger mosasaurs may have hunted elasmosaurs regularly- I can see a Tylosaur
eating whatever it wanted, including smaller mosasaurs.
