The SICB annual meeting in Denver was the basis for the very informative 
posts by Tom Holtz.   The web site details the purpose of the society
and benefits of membership.

Interestingly, future meetings will be held in Atlanta from January 4-8,
2000, and in Chicago from January 3-7, 2001.
