TV Paleontology

Greetings all,

Pete is NOT in jail, and he never said he found this family group. Sue
Hendrickson was the original discoverer of a few vertebrate sticking out of
the formation. The BHI/GR excavated and recovered "Sue". Pete went to jail
on a completely unrelated charge to the original "Sue" case, for
transporting more than $10,000 out of the US, and back in, without
reporting it. This law he "broke" was set up to curb drug traffic, not
limit fossil dealers effectiveness. Pete spent 2 years in a minimum
security facility in Colorado, and has been back at work for a long time
now.

A really good question is whether anyone knows if these other specimens of
T. rex are recovered or have fallen victim of the SD winters? I assure you
there are bloody few collectors interested in working with the landowner
after the "Sue" fiasco.

Isn't it funny that the BHI/GR supposedly was in the wrong for contracting
with the landowner for whatever was there, and that was supposedly illegal,
but the landowner could later resell "Sue"? Does it make sense to anyone?
I've yet to hear a reasonable explanation even from the deputy US attorney
general that tried the case.

(Sorry list administrators for addressing this subject at all, but I felt
strongly compelled address an issue far from dead to us South Dakotans and
those that work on Late Cretacous funa).
