Re: "Supersaurus"




Good day Chris,

I've been really behind on my own readings so anyone on this list correct me if I'm wrong and woefully out of date. As I recall Ultrasaurus was found with the same holotype dorsal vertebrae typical of diplodocids, yet the scapula was shown to be more typical of the brachiosaurid type coracoid. At that time there was still controversy regarding which group Supersaurus would be classified under, so I'd be really grateful if anyone can fill me in.

Speaking of which, I also seem to recall reading some author write that ultrasauros, based on the same type of dorsal vertebrae, would most likely be the same creature as Supersaurus. Any comments on that?
