Re: archives
Apparently the recent "user unknown" problem experienced by the
address which receives dinosaur list messages for storage at the
archive site at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History was caused by
a failure of the site's hard drive last week. The archives are
currently inaccessible, but hopefully when they are operational again
they will be almost complete. I haven't had any new bounce reports
from their address this week, so I'm presuming for the moment that
messages currently being distributed will ultimately appear at the
site. Right now the site is off line so far as I can tell; I suspect
this is because they are in the midst of operations to restore it.
Yesterday there was a message which you could see at:
http://www.cmnh.org
which explained the problem. If you try to go to the archive site and
you can't get there but are told something *other* than:
A network error occurred:
unable to connect to server
The server may be down or unreachable.
then try the above URL for a possible update on the state of affairs.
Don't blame me. I don't even work here.
