Can you be certain of diet and hygiene of Velociraptor enough to
eliminate the possibility that it had LOST pellage? <<<
So restore your dromeosaurs with bald heads ;-)
Again, this falls under parsimony. Without evidence to indicate either
way, then postulating the presence of a n unusual diet (after all,
carnivorous falconiformes have no problem feathering their entire bodies)
and or grooming habbits in order defeather a phylogenetically bracketed
taxa is special pleading.
