Glen Kuban investigated the Japanese "plesiosaur" and discovered it to
to be a badly decayed basking shark. Tissue samples of taken from the
body before it was discarded were determined to be "similar" to the
fin rays of modern sharks. Glen's excellent summary of the incident
was published in Reports of the National Center for Science Education.

I've never heard of the 1925 california plesiosaur.
As an aside, I wonder why creationists think that a live plesiosaur
would harm evolutionary theory in any way. After all, sharks have
been around for over 400 My and most modern species have survived
unchanged for 100 My or more. No one thinks shark threaten evolution,
why would a live "dinosaur?"
