swimming edentates

Actually, two-toed tree sloths of the genus Choleopus are proficient at
the breast stroke. In places where tropical rivers flood acres of land,
they will use the opportunity to swim to trees further down river than they
would chance over dry ground. If the hypothetical ancestor to
Thalassocnus natans_ lived in a similar manner, it is easy to envision
them making longer aquatic voyages, and eventually learning to feed in an
aquatic environment.
