  Sorry, but I plead almost total ignorance. I have looked at many
Protosphyraena specimens and collected a few bits from the Pierre Shale, but
here I must defer to Neil "Jurassic" Clark and the other fish experts. I'd
love to do a painting of one and can't wait to see what Luis Rey comes up
with. Dave Martill visited Berkeley about ten years ago and was talking about
this material to Mike Greenwald, who was collections manager there at the
time. Mike wrote to me about 100 foot long fish and pliosaurs with teeth the
size of "mortar shells!". Got my attention. Dan Varner.
