you get a BOOK? The kindness
of many list members is vast and I do not think that you, Jessica, or anybody else should be ignored or treated shabbily, but there really is a ton of information that would make you able to ask even more and better questions. Try one of the three big encyclopedias: Farlowe-Brett-Surman, Glut, or Currie-Padian, and dig in! Yes, Jessica. I would suggest looking into
Currie-Padian`s "Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs" (gee...you`d think I was
getting a commission, the number of times I mentioned this title!). It`s
expensive, but a large, comprehensive book, and worth the money page for page. I
think you mentioned that your mom got you "The Dinosauria", a book of
about the same size...(and price). I`ve had college training, and find that book
a bit too technical to be termed "easy reading" even for an AP Bio
student. The Encyclopedia of Dino`s was wriiten , I think, for a more general
audience, covers just about any dino topic you can think of, and gives many
references into scientific papers that explain these topics in even more depth .
And at least trying to look into some of these more advanced scientific papers
is what an AP student like yourself should be trying out. That`s what college is
going to be like, and you would have a great advantage, if you already know how
to research this kind of stuff.
So, what I would do in your situation, is try to
get this book by interlibrary loan,( if your library dosen`t have it), look up
an interesting topic, write down the references, and get your mom to take you to
a college library to look up these papers and make copies (bring plenty of
dimes!). Ask the college librarian to show you just how to do this kind of
research, I`m sure they will help you out. I think this would be an interesting
experience for you! (So...you`re really going to the Gobi?....I believe it!
PS...don`t ever be afraid to ask
Questions!
