RE: Raptors



On the same "raptorish" thread :-): was Utahraptor known at the time that
JP1 was made?  And, speaking of Dromaeosaurs, does anyone have a good
mechanical model of how fast they could run.  50-60 MPHs sounds high to me
for an animal with legs like theirs.  I would guess that's more in line for
Gallimimus.

        At the time JP the book was written, there was an idea floating
about that
        _Velociraptor mongoliensis_ and _Deinonychus antirrhopus_ belonged
in the
        same genus, which by the rules of priority would be called
_Velociraptor_.
