Tracy,
remember that most 'normal' folk have the drafting ability they learned
way back with the only box of crayolas they ever recieved.  MOST people
who are not artistic are purely satisfied drawing stick figures all
their lives........

To that person, a high quality rendering that looks 3d IS pretty tricky. 

Jeffrey,
a lot of us artists go to art schools and stuff to learn to render 3d
realistically on paper.  Some of us are pretty damn good at it.  (but I
have the feeling from the way you phrased your comment that you knew
this already)
